White House Shooting Suspect Identified As Nasire Best [VIDEO]

Breaking News Saturday before 6pm shots rang out near The White House with media members ducking for cover. The White House was placed on lockdown. Reportedly the suspected gunman was dead and a bystander wounded when Secret Service responded to shots fired near the White House. The suspect now has been identified a 21 year old Nasire Best of Maryland.

According to reports the suspect identified as Nasire Best, who died Saturday after exchanging gunfire with agents. had multiple previous run-ins with the Secret Service. Best was detained in June of last year for flagging down agents and making threats and two weeks later for entering a restricted area. Best had briefly been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital in June 2025, after blocking a vehicle entry on the east side of the White House, CNN and the NYT reported.

Allegedly Nasire Best approached a White House security checkpoint and pulled a gun from his bag before opening fire, according to the Secret Service. Law enforcement shot back and wounded Best who was taken to the hospital where he died.

The Secret Service said the bystander, who has not been identified, suffered a gunshot wound described as not life-threatening. It was not clear how he was shot.
