Back in 2025 a manhunt was underway in Atlanta for the person/person’s responsible for breaking and entering Beyoncé’s choreographers car stealing two suitcases containing unreleased music, show footage, and tour plans. Officers responded on July 8 after receiving a 911 call regarding a theft from a vehicle, according to police. The alleged thief Kelvin Evans was arrested and taken into custody on Sept. 16, that same year in Hapeville, Ga., for a parole violation on Aug. 26. Evans was accused of stealing the hard drives was booked for one count of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. But unfortunately the hard drives were not recovered. Fast forwarding to 2026 Kelvin Evans appeared in court for a plea hearing, Wednesday, March 25th, Evans rejected the plea deal and say’s he wants his fighting day in court now.
During the hearing, the judge directly asked Kelvin Evans whether he intended to reject the plea agreement. Without hesitation, Evans responded, “I’m ready to go to trial now.” While many defendants choose plea deals to reduce potential sentencing, Evans’ decision signals confidence in his defense or, at the very least, a willingness to take the risk.
Kelvin Evans faces a maximum of six years in prison if convicted. The plea deal offered would have allowed him to serve five years instead. Now, the prosecution says it plans to seek all six years since he is a convicted felon.
