Pastor Jamal Bryant Apologizes For Calling For The End Of Boycotting Of Target That He Started [VIDEO]

When President Donald Trump took office back in January of 2025 one of the first things of many he did on day one was to get rid of DEI.  One of the first companies to comply with the eradication of DEI by Trump, was Target which led to Pastor Jamal Bryant being one of the leaders of the nationwide movement to punish Target for their rollback of DEI policies, or policies that prioritized diversity, equity and inclusion for their staff, calling for people to boycott Target, a boycott that caused Target to loose money.   A year later Pastor Jamal Bryant caused a firestorm earlier this week when he announced the end of his Target Fast, which originally was set to run through Lent last year, but extended into a year-long fast, leaving many to believe that Bryant’s announcement marked the formal end of the Target boycott.

“It’s been a year and I’m grateful. They didn’t think we could do it but we did. History has just been made.”… “the most effective and powerful boycott by Black people since the Montgomery Bus Boycott seventy years ago.”

According to Jamal Bryant in a video he claimed that Target invested $2 billion back into the Black community, with an additional $100 million for community needs that was once promised after the death of George Floyd. Bryant said the company has agreed to partner with HBCUs, or historically Black colleges and universities, starting with a pilot project that will grow to include 12 organizations. He also said there has been a “reimagining of DEI,” the policy change that prompted the boycott.

Now, Bryant is apologizing while also stating he hasn’t received any money from Target or been compensated to end the fast. After backlash for calling an end to the Target fast, Jamal Bryant apologized, saying, “I wanted to apologize for being a leader that was out of touch with what the community wanted.” He also insisted he hasn’t been paid by the superstore.
