During a March 4 phone call with Time, President Trump said he has “no time limits” on how long the war with Iran could go on, he said, “I have no time limits on anything. I want to get it done.” when he previously, expected the war to last 4 to 5 weeks.
Then when asked if Americans should be concerned about retaliatory Iranian attacks in the United States, Donald Trump said,
“I guess. But I think they’re worried about that all the time … When you go to war, some people will die…”
After the February 28 attack on Iran, 6 U.S. service members were killed in a retaliatory drone strike abroad, plus, more than 1,000 people total were believed dead as of March 4, due to the conflict in the Middle East. Also reportedly thousands of Americans are now stranded in the Middle East as Iran retaliates with drone attacks on U.S. facilities, prompting Democratic lawmakers and current and former State Department officials to sharply criticize the Trump administration for failing to plan for what they say was a predictable scenario.
