Cavaliers Trade Darius Garland To The Clippers For James Harden…Is This a Blockbuster or Bust? [VIDEO]

CAV’S Fans Thoughts? Cavaliers Trade Darius Garland To The Clippers For James Harden [VIDEO]

Last week the Cleveland Cavaliers as well as fans were celebrating, LeBron James as a Laker, returning to The Land, in what some try to speculate as his last game in Cleveland.  Some feel that as father time continues to keep ticking that after this season there may be a possibility that Just A Kid from Akron could return home to finish his career and possibly bring Cleveland anther championship.  This week kind of making everyone’s Spidey senses elevate is reportedly that the Cleveland Cavaliers have traded Darius Garland  to the Clippers for NBA start James Harden.  Is this another championship move or mistake?

According to Sports Illustrated the trade is a bit of a surprise, but it shows the Cavs want to win now. The move gives the Cavaliers a short-term upgrade at the point guard position, which also gives Cleveland a chance to have another creator next to Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt.

James Harden ironically/allegedly (James Harden denies the rumor) was asking to be traded even though he was having one of his best offensive seasons in recent years, averaging 25.4 points a game for a Clippers team that had won 17 of its last 22 games after a 6-21 start to the season. That run had thrust the Clippers into ninth place in the Western Conference.  The Cavaliers, meanwhile, sit fifth in the Eastern Conference. Garland has been in and out of Cleveland’s lineup during an injury-riddled 2025-26 season dealing with foot and ankle injuries.

The Harden-for-Garland swap, as far as the Cavs’ payroll is concerned, was not all that complicated. They both make about $39 million this year, so Cleveland could make the trade without having to execute trickier deals ahead of time to get under the second apron.

Cleveland Cavalier fans give us your thoughts, is this a blockbuster or bust?
