Hollywood Unlocked/Reality Star/Vice Mayor, Jason Lee Cleared Of Abusing His Power

Founder of Hollywood Unlocked, a podcaster, reality television star, philanthropist, and entertainment businessperson, Jason Lee, who is currently serving as the District 6 Vice Mayor of Stockton, California, was recently accused of abusing his power and misusing $50,000 in city funds for a “Wild ‘n Out” event he performed in.  Reportedly now thorough an investigation has Jason Lee’s name has been cleared.

Jason Lee was appointed Vice Mayor of Stockton, California, by Mayor Christina Fugazi in January 2025, a largely ceremonial role, because of his background as a successful entrepreneur, media figure (CEO of Hollywood Unlocked), and community advocate with deep roots in Stockton, aiming to bring new energy and partnerships to the city.

In August 2025, the Stockton city manager’s office launched an investigation into how $50,000 from the city’s risk mitigation fund was used for a May 2025 “Wild ‘n Out” comedy show. The money was used to avoid the show’s cancellation due to low ticket sales. Critics claimed Jason Lee influenced the decision to profit from the event and crossed lines between his policymaking role and city administration. Jason Lee maintained that he helped bring the event to Stockton as a volunteer to boost the city’s economy and not for personal profit The investigation concluded in January 2026 found that Jason Lee did not violate any state law, city charter, or ethics rules. It determined that while he had a personal interest in the event, that interest was likely aligned with the city’s broader economic goals.
