During a news conference at the White House, Donald Trump, announced that he’ll be taking control of the Washington, D.C. police by placing them under federal control and bringing in the National Guard stating that “we’re taking our capital back”. In the taking back of the capital President Donald Trump also vowed this week to rid Washington, D.C., of homeless encampments, issuing a warning that the “homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY.” Though what those plans will look like, including where people will go, is unclear, sparking concerns among advocacy groups. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared during a recent news conference that police have removed 70 encampments since Trump signed his executive order.
