Stephen Jackson, a former NBA player, had a close friendship with George Floyd, referring to him as his “twin brother”. They were introduced by a mutual friend who noted their resemblance. Jackson and Floyd remained close friends, with Jackson frequently visiting Floyd in Houston during the NBA off-season. Following George Floyd’s viral murder at the knee of a Minneapolis police officer, Stephen Jackson has become a vocal advocate for justice and change, speaking out against police brutality and racism but more importantly standing ten toes down with the memory of his friend George Floyd. Hence why Stephen Jackson say’s that rapper Lil Yatchy is a lil “WACK” for name dropping George Floyd’s name in a distasteful lyric referencing on his new track.
In the song, the Atlanta-based rapper Lil Yatchy rhymed “Put my knee up on her neck, I went George Floyd,” followed by a “Wop” adlib. He shared the song on Thursday (Aug. 14) during a livestream with Plaqueboymax. The song is set to be released in Yachty’s upcoming It’s Us Vol. 2, with his Concrete Boys collective.
Stephen Jackson posted the video on his social media tagging Lil Yatchy, with a few choice words of his own for the rapper.
“Lil Yachty, bro. You been wack, my ni**a. But you think you saying George Floyd’s name, and trying to use his name in a bar, that’s gonna make people like your wack-a** music, my ni**a? That sh*t weak. Y’all the only era that feel like demeaning the dead and saying that sh*t is cool, my ni**a. It ain’t. It’s me and the whole third ward and the whole Houston, Texas, riding behind G man. Don’t ever say his name, bro. None of y’all knew G. Nothing about him…thats some weak a** shit yachty. Let somebody die in your family. We gon do a whole skit about it. It’s only you wack Sambo a** ni**as that do sh*t like that.”
