BET Hip Hop and Soul Train Awards Indefinitely Suspended

BET has been the home of awarding Black Excellence in the entertainment industry for almost twenty years, allowing black entertainers to shine and be recognized for their accomplishments that other awards show seem to shun.  However today sad news is being reported that in an interview with Billboard, BET President Scott Mills revealed that the two shows, BET Hip Hop and Soul Train Awards, are being temporarily put on pause.

BET’s President, Scott Mills, shared the news during an interview with Billboard. While he didn’t give a lot of details, he did say it has something to do with the “changing media landscape” and the shows aren’t completely gone.

“I would say that it’s less about them being no longer and more about our team having to reimagine them for this changing media landscape that we find ourselves in,” Mills said. “They aren’t gone.”

The BET Hip Hop Awards launched in 2006, while the Soul Train Awards traces back to 1987
