Former US Attorney For The Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, Found Dead

Police in Alexandria, Virginia, responded to reports of an unresponsive woman when they arrived the woman was identified a former U.S. Attorney for The Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber, who had died at the age of 43.  Police said an investigation is currently underway to look into the circumstances surrounding Jessica Aber’s death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia “will determine the manner of death,” per authorities.

Jessica Aber served as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division for Eastern District of Virginia, per the Department of Justice.  In August of 2021 Aber was nominated for U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia by then President Joe Biden.  She was unanimously confirmed by the Senate in October of that same year.  Jessica Aber resigned from her position with the Eastern District of Virginia, earlier this year in January 2025, the same day the now President Donald Trump, took over the presidency of the United States.

Attorney General of Virginia Jason Miyares released a statement on Aber’s death Saturday:

“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Jessica Aber, whose career of public service included US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and whose work with Ceasefire Virginia saved more lives than we may ever realize.”
