Keke Palmer Thinks Wicked’s ‘Defying Gravity’ Is a ‘Slave Hymn’ !? [VIDEO]

The Blockbuster hit this winter has been ‘Wicked’ an amazing productions with an outstanding soundtrack.   However Keke Palmer shocked some folks when she said that she thought the smash hit from the movie ”Defying Gravity’ is a “slave hymn”.

According to many opinions online,the “best” performance of “Defying Gravity”from Wicked is widely considered to be by Cynthia Erivo in the recent movie adaptation, praised for her powerful vocals and emotional delivery of the song, however, the original Broadway performance by Idina Menzel is also often cited as a top rendition due to its iconic status and impact on the musical’s legacy.

Keke Palmer surprised her “One of Them Days” co-star SZA and producer Issa Rae with her remarks when discussing the iconic song.  She likened Elphaba’s famous solo anthem to a “slave hymn.” After passionately imitating Cynthia Erivo’s iconic high note in the song, Palmer exclaimed, “That’s a slave hymn!”
