Tragedy struck at Apalachee High School in Georgia where reportedly a 14 year old student who has been identified as Colt Gray opened fire killing two students, two teachers and injuring nine with an AR-style rifle last Wednesday.
Colt Gray who was questioned by law enforcement last year about “online threats to commit a school shooting” according to a joint statement from FBI Atlanta and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, has been arrested and is expected to be tried as an adult has been charged with four counts of felony murder.
His father Colin Gray has been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children. According to GBI Director Chris Hosey, the charges against Colin Gray stem from him “knowingly allowing” his son to have a weapon, that he had bought him for Christmas in 2023.
His mother on the hand, reportedly tried to call and warning the school before tragedy struck.
According to CNN, via Colt Gray’s grandfather, Colt’s mom Marcee Gray received a message from him saying, “I’m sorry, mom.” That message prompted her to call his school with a warning. CNN says the call between Marcee and the school lasted 10 minutes. She called the school at 9:50am and police were notified about the shooting at 10:20am. The mom nor the grandfather specified the context of the call.
