Oh what a tangle web we weave. Kevin McCarthy, when he threw his hat in the ring for Speaker of The House to become the predecessor of Nancy Pelosi, didn’t receive the vote on the first round then many to come before he finally wore congress down. Now it seems his speakership is coming to a close with as much drama as it was for him to get in.
Kevin McCarthy angered Democrats in recent weeks, by launching an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden and then on Saturday by giving them little time to read a stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown that he needed their votes to pass.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the job Tuesday in an extraordinary showdown — a first in U.S. history, forced by a contingent of hard-right conservatives and throwing the House and its Republican leadership into chaos.
Now the search for a new speaker begins and once again a government shutdown is looming.
